State Auditor Rob Sand was in Carroll County on Tuesday as a part of his town hall tours. He spoke with residents about what his office does and how they help protect taxpayer dollars. Sand also talked about the Public Innovations and Efficiencies (PIE) program.
Sands office has been cracking down on where taxpayers’ money ends up. By law, city offices cannot make a private donation to nonprofit organizations without a written contact. He says this provides accountability and oversight for those taxpayer dollars.
Sand has said his office is the taxpayers’ watchdog and says they are getting more assertive on misspent money in situations where people are abusing the public trust.
Sand made his comments on Tuesday morning at South Side Park while he was in Carroll as a part of his Town Hall tours.
