St. Anthony Regional Hospital CEO, Allen Anderson, Now Three Weeks In And Settling Into His New Role

It has been three weeks since St. Anthony’s new CEO, Allen Anderson, officially started at the hospital, and he is beginning to settle into his role. Anderson says it has been a whirlwind since he started as he learns more daily about the facility’s operations and meets as many of the hospital’s 700+ employees as he can.

When he isn’t getting up to speed on hospital finances or traveling to see his family, who are still in Montevideo, Minn., pending a move to Carroll, Anderson is working on getting a better grasp on St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s overall operations. He says the staff there are always looking for new ways to improve or expand their services.

As the new CEO, Anderson is also looking at areas where they can improve, such as operational efficiencies or patient experience. He says their next major project is already taking shape at an estimated $6 million.

While St. Anthony Regional Hospital might be the largest healthcare facility in the area, it faces some of the same challenges as other rural hospitals: Medicare reimbursement.

When not leading the hospital’s operations, Anderson enjoys running ultramarathons and spending time with his family. His wife Melissa is an occupational therapist, and they have an 11-year-old son, Jonas, and an 8-year-old daughter, Aubrey. The full interview with Anderson from Monday morning can be found included below.
