The Breda American Legion is celebrating more than our nation’s independence this Fourth of July weekend as they mark 100 years of serving and supporting area veterans, veteran families, and local communities. Bob Fasbender, a longtime Post #607 member, says their organization was chartered on March 2, 1922 and has grown into one of the most active posts in western Iowa.
The Breda American Legion takes pride in their annual Fourth of July celebration, as it is one of most well-attended events in the region. Fasbender says they are going bigger and better in 2022 as they celebrate their centennial on Saturday, July 2. Starting at 6 p.m., the beer garden, food vendors, kids’ inflatables and more open to the public. Fasbender says live music will be provided throughout the evening with the Pork Tornadoes headlining the free concert.
Fasbender adds their fireworks display, which is one of the largest displays in western Iowa, is set to begin around 10 p.m. The Independence Day celebration serves as one of the Breda American Legion’s primary fundraisers for the year, and they will be selling $1 raffle tickets to attendees for the chance to win a plethora of different prizes.
Members will also begin selling entries for the Breda American Legion’s popular annual gun raffle during their Fourth of July celebration. The full schedule for Saturday’s festivities can be found on the Breda American Legion’s Facebook page, a link to which is included below.
