The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is inviting novice anglers to join them later this month for a free online seminar on the basics of kayak fishing. The session will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 16 via Zoom. Fish Iowa! Coordinator, Barb Gigar, says, “Fishing from a kayak or canoe gets you to where the fish are, especially later in the summer on smaller lakes where vegetation makes it harder to fish from shore or on waters with limited shoreline access.” Participants will learn all they need to know for a successful outing, including basic gear requirements, safety recommendations, and more. Presenters will offer a question-and-answer session following the general presentation. The May 16 event is geared towards adults, so younger anglers should have an adult register and join in the seminar. Space is limited, so RSVP soon through the link included below.
