Former Vice President Mike Pence joined other Republican leaders in Carroll on Saturday to rally support for GOP candidates running in the mid-term elections coming up later this year. Pence was joined by Senator Chuck Grassley, Representative Randy Feenstra, and Governor Kim Reynolds during the 4th District Republican Convention at Carroll High School on Saturday. Sen. Grassley pointed to 8.5-percent inflation, rising gas prices, and record crossings at the border with Mexico as signs of the current administration’s failures.

Rep. Feenstra followed Grassley at the microphone. Feenstra took office in Jan. 2021 and has served his freshman term in the minority in the House. Feenstra says the last sixteen months have been some of the most worrying of his lifetime, and he blames his colleagues across the aisle for what Feenstra sees as American decline.

Pence echoed Feenstra’s sentiments, saying Americans prospered under the Trump Administration.

He adds the question he hears most during his travels is if he has hope for America’s future. Pence says he has not lost faith in the American dream.

Republican leaders and county delegates met Saturday to craft Republican Party platform changes, elect representatives to the GOP State Central Committee, and drum up support leading into the midterm election. Fourth district delegates will report those results to the Republican State Convention in June following the Primary Elections.
