After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the mass casualty simulation for Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) students is back. It teaches and tests the skills of over 250 DMACC students from nine different programs on their teamwork and critical thinking skills during an emergency situation. The simulation will consist of a multiple-vehicle accident in the parking lot and a hospital location where the victims will be treated. The event is at the DMACC Ankeny Campus in parking lot L/M in front of Trail Point Aquatics and Wellness on Monday, April 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Five different DMACC campuses will be involved with criminal justice, emergency medical technician, fire science technology, human services, and many other programs participating. The simulation offers students from multiple programs opportunities to apply what they have learned in the classroom to better prepare for real-life emergencies.
