An investigation into a reported trespassing may lead to drug charges against several Jefferson residents. At approximately 12:01 p.m. on Tuesday, the Jefferson Police Department was dispatched to a home in the 100 block of N. Walnut Street and spoke to one of the occupants. They told law enforcement someone had entered their garage and searched through its interior. While speaking to the individual, the officer noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence. A consent search of the home uncovered drug paraphernalia, baggies, scales and a substance believed to be marijuana, which were seized for additional testing. Charges against the occupants are pending the return of lab results. An investigation into the reported trespassing incident is ongoing.
