Wednesday’s Lunch-And-Learn At DMACC Carroll Campus Puts Spotlight On Education In Iowa Corrections

The WE INCLUDE speaker series returns to Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC) Carroll campus tomorrow (Wednesday) with a focus on improving outcomes for justice-impacted Iowans through educational opportunities. The WE INCLUDE series was developed and implemented by the local chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and Bri Wuebker, one of the group’s members, explains the goal of these events.

Tomorrow’s (Wednesday) speakers include DMACC Director for Justice-Impacted Communities and Chair of the Iowa Consortium for Higher Education in Prison, Dr. Jennie Doke-Kerns, and DMACC Assistant Director of Student Development and author of “Iowa Women’s Corrections: A History”, Erica Spiller. Wuebker explains what the pair will speak about during the lunch-and-learn.

The WE INCLUDE event opens at 12 p.m. on Wednesday in the James and Marjorie Knott Commons Area on DMACC’s Carroll campus. A light lunch will be provided during the one-hour presentation and the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
