Grassley, Ernst Say Inflation And Supply Chain Issues Are Top Concerns For Iowans As They Kick Of Their Annual 99-County Tours

Senators, Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, kicked off their annual 99-county tours earlier this week, and both of them say high inflation and supply chain issues are the top issues during their meetings so far. The senators opened their tours in northeast Iowa as part of their long-standing tradition to hear directly from Iowans. Ernst says Democrats in Washington, D.C. have been too focused on trying to end the Senate filibuster and implement election overhauls to notice how their policies are negatively impacting Americans.

Inflation topped seven percent in December, which is the highest rate seen in the United States for nearly four decades. Grassley says this is directly tied to huge spending bills pushed through Congress by his colleagues across the aisle.

Grassley adds supply chain hold have added to the inflation problem. Some of this is due to issues and delays loading and offloading goods at our nation’s ports, particularly in California.

Ernst told reporters during a press conference on Wednesday these are issues that affect Americans’ everyday lives, but little is being done to address it at the federal level.
