The City of Manning has been named one of eight finalists in Iowa’s Healthiest State Initiative Healthy Hometown contest. The community was chosen for its outstanding efforts to improve the physical, social and emotional health of their residents through public awareness campaigns, capital improvement projects and more. The winner will be announced on Feb. 17 during an online ceremony featuring U.S. Paralympian and Iowan, Jessica Heims. In previous years, selected communities received up to $5,000 to aid in their Healthiest State Initiative efforts. The seven other finalist communities include: Dallas Center, Guttenberg, Harlan, Iowa Great Lakes Region, New Hampton, Stanton and Waterloo. The ceremony will also include presentations for nine other categories, like school programs, employer initiatives and more. The award ceremony will be livestreamed via Facebook and YouTube.
