Streets are again a major topic of discussion on Monday’s Carroll City Council agenda. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says staff members are looking for direction from the council on conducting street assessments for Adams Street.
If the council decides to do an assessment, it could delay the Adams Street reconstruction until 2023. This will also require discussion on whether they start planning for a potential rehabilitation project versus the total reconstruction next year. Monday’s meeting will once again be followed with a workshop on that Adams Street project.
Pogge-Weaver says even though other necessary decisions on water and sewer service line repair and replacement options were discussed in the last workshop, he does not anticipate them being brought back at this one.
The council will also be discussing Streetscape 10. In other agenda items, Kuemper Catholic Schools has requested permission from the city for use of the adult softball fields in 2022.
The field is deeper than a standard high school softball field, so Kuemper would have to purchase a temporary fence that can be installed and removed before and after games. In 2019, Kuemper had made a similar request, but at the youth softball complex instead. Pogge-Weaver says this option eases some strain on staff members. The council will review bids for a new mower, look to waive a purchasing policy for a customer-preferred treadmill and review the purchase of Keiser indoor bicycles for the Rec Center. The meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, is also available on local access cable, CAAT6, and can be accessed digitally. Details on how to do so and a link to the agenda can be found below.
