Walmart Grants Support Local Initiatives, Including The Kids Christmas Wish

Every year, Walmart offers area organizations and initiatives the opportunity to apply for mini grants to support their efforts. Manager of the Carroll store, Jessica Yost, says this is one of her favorite tasks within her role.

The Kids Christmas Wish is one of those annual campaigns that routinely receives funding through the Walmart grant program. Kids Christmas Wish raises funds to help ensure local children have food, needed items and gifts during the holidays and was awarded the largest grant amount in the Walmart history of support.

The $3,000 received will also help with ensuring no child goes hungry this Christmas and supports healthy eating options. Yost explains how the local grant process works.

The grant amount varies from year-to-year and was set at $10,000 for this area this year. However, this is not the only way that Walmart supports the residents in their communities.

Local food pantries also benefit from the proximity of their Walmart store.

For more information on how you can donate to the Kids Christmas Wish, call Carroll Broadcasting at 712-792-4321. The mini grant application process opens in February and the funds are distributed through the end of December. Prior to the application window opening, Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from Yost on the process and how to get assistance with applying. She says the first time is quite involved, but once approved, the annual process becomes much easier.
