Multiple fire departments have responded to a gas station fire about four miles north of Rockwell City. According to the Calhoun County Communications Center, first responders were dispatched at approximately 10:31 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning to the reported blaze at the Sparky’s One Stop at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Iowa Highway 4. Photos from the scene show thick black smoke emanating from the station’s fueling area and a semi-tractor trailer fully engulfed in flames. At least a half-dozen local agencies have responded so far, including the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Rockwell City, Pomeroy, Manson and Jolley Fire Departments, Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services and others.
