Earlier this week, U.S. Senator, Chuck Grassley, was presented with the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun from the Japanese embassy for his significant work in strengthening relations and promoting friendship between Japan and the United States. This is one of Japan’s highest honors. “The friendship between Japan and the United States spans decades, hemispheres and ideas. I’m honored to receive this recognition, especially from such great friends and allies,” Grassley says. “I work hard to break down trade barriers and find additional markets for the farmers in my state. That’s why I’m so grateful, that when I was Chairman of the Finance Committee, Japan and the United States completed a bilateral trade agreement.” Grassley adds that this agreement provides some certainty to Iowa farmers and that he looks for ward to fostering this relationship into the future.
