The Lake View City Council will use the funding set aside for the community in the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to help finance two upcoming water infrastructure projects. According to Administrator, Scott Peterson, Lake View’s ARPA allocations is $161,541, and the council needed to determine how that money will be utilized.
The first project is a $547,000 water main expansion to the northeast section of town that was initiated to provide increased waterflow to the Evapco expansion site north of Highway 175. Peterson says the other project was introduced to improve service for customers on the other side of Lake View.
The city was expecting to spend approximately $915,000 between the two projects. While the ARPA funds won’t cover even one of those projects, it does take some of the burden off of Lake View taxpayers. Peterson notes they will designate a specific amount that will be used on each project, but that will occur at a future council meeting.
