Region XII Housing Program Coordinator, Karla Janning, had a busy week, working with both the Carroll County Board of Supervisors and the Carroll City Council to get their support and approval for the county’s Down Payment Assistance program applications as well as providing an update and contract amendment for the city’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) owner-occupied Housing Rehabilitation program. Her week began with discussion of the county-wide Down Payment Assistance Program.
The program only allows for five recipients at the front end. They are applying for $211,500.
The grant application is scheduled to be submitted no later than July 27. Janning says the housing needs assessment has remained relatively stable and this program has been brought back because of the success they have seen through the last round. Janning presented current numbers to the Carroll City Council on the CDBG grants, saying they have had six recipients. Construction is complete on three, two are underway and one is in the bidding process.
Janning explains how the forgivable loans work.
All of the rehabilitation projects are on track to be completed before the August 2022 deadline. Janning thanked all of the supervisors and council members for their support.
