Lake View City Council Approves First Reading Of Horseshoe Drive Parking Ordinance Change

The Lake View City Council has approved the first reading of an ordinance change that will limit roadside parking on Horseshoe Drive near Camp Crescent. The narrow, 700-foot residential loop is often used by patrons and guests due to its proximity to the campground, but it frequently becomes congested during holidays and weekends. City officials requested the Lake View Police Department complete a parking study on the area before taking formal action on the matter. Administrator, Scott Peterson, says the council received the results of that study at last week’s meeting.

Parking is sparse near the campground, so the council wants to provide as much space as they can without negatively impacting the lane’s residents. Peterson says the homeowners understand the need for parking, but they still need to be able to access their homes.

Peterson says they are aware of the need for parking at the campground and are exploring other options.

The ordinance’s first reading was approved unanimously with the second reading slated for the July 19 council meeting. If required, the third reading will be held at the first meeting in August.
