After playing the remainder of the suspended Gilbert game, Carroll traveled to take on non-conference opponent Harlan Monday evening.
Carroll and Harlan got through two innings of work without either team putting runs on the board. Harlan eventually got on the board in the bottom of the third as they got ahead 4-0. Carroll was able to keep pace with Harlan in the hitting department; both teams got five hits each, but Carroll got in trouble when they left 10 runners on base, unable to score any of them.
Harlan added another run to their total to take a 5-0 lead over Carroll. The combination of Slade Sibenaller, Tory Feldman, and Dreylen Schweitzer recorded five strikeouts and allowed three earned runs total. Harlan and Carroll both went scoreless in the sixth, and the Cyclones closed out the top of the seventh to grab the 5-0 win on their home field.
Carroll falls to 10-13 overall on the season. The Tigers continue a jam packed week as they take on conference rival Perry at home on Wednesday, June 30th.

Kuemper played in a tough non-conference match against Raccoon River Conference leaders Gilbert Monday evening.
Kuemper started off the game with a strong defensive effort going three up and three down which included a strikeout from Michael Pottebaum on the hill. Kuemper matched their good defensive inning with a stronger offensive push. Logan Sibenaller and Blake Pottebaum got on base thanks to a walk and double respectively, and both got home thanks to Austin Tigges clearing a single and giving Kuemper the 2-0 lead. Cal Wanninger was able to get a base hit and make his way to second off a fielder’s choice, but was left on base.
Gilbert in the top of the second responded with two runs of their own off an RBI double and sacrifice bunt, tying the game at 2-2. Kuemper and Gilbert were unable to add runs to their totals in the third or fourth innings, but Gilbert came back to score big in the top of the fifth. The Gilbert Tigers got their first five batters on the bags, and eventually got them home to take their first lead of the game at 7-2. Kuemper in the bottom of the fifth got Logan Sibenaller to third base, but he was left stranded, unable to score for Kuemper. Gilbert held on to their 7-2 lead coming into the bottom of the seventh. Kuemper had Blake Pottebaum and SIbenaller on first and second respectively, but after a strikeout and 6-3 play, Gilbert was able to close out the game and prevent Kuemper from scoring, ultimately winning 7-2.
Kuemper falls to 16-5-1 overall on the season. The Knights are in action next on Thursday, July 1st when they travel to take on Glenwood in a varsity double header.

Coon Rapids Bayard picked up a strong non-conference win over Alta-Aurelia Monday despite being out-hit 8-3.
The Alta-Aurelia Warriors got their offense going in the top of the first inning, getting the first lead of the game at 2-0 early. Coon Rapids Bayard matched those two runs and added one more to take their first lead of the game at 3-2. The biggest contributor for Coon Rapids Bayard getting on base was hit by pitches. The Crusaders were hit by eight hit by pitches and were walked four times. The Crusaders got their defense back on track by keeping the Warriors scoreless in the top of the second, and rode the momentum in the bottom of the second by adding another run to their total, taking the 4-2 lead.
Alta-Aurelia kept it a close game by adding a solo run in the top of the third inning, cutting down the Coon Rapids Bayard lead to 4-3. From the fourth inning on, Preston McAlister and the Crusader defense did not allow another run to be scored. McAlister on the hill went the full seven innings where he allowed three earned runs off eight hits, two walks, and a hit batter while recording four strikeouts. Coon Rapids Bayard found more offensive success as they brought home two runners in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the bottom of the sixth, taking the 7-3 lead. McAlister and Tanner Oswald were the two Crusaders batters who got the lone three hits, going 2-3 and 1-3 respectively for three singles. With the lead firmly in their grasp, Coon Rapids Bayard shut down Alta-Aurelia once again in the top of the seventh and walked away with the 7-3 win at home.
Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 18-7 overall on the season. The Crusaders are on the road on Wednesday, June 30th as they have a non-conference game against Ogden.

Audubon got a late game comeback started against Treynor in the top of the seventh, but it was stopped two runs shy of a tie Monday night.
In game one of the Western Iowa Conference Tournament, Audubon and Treynor traded runs in the first inning. Audubon grabbed the early lead in the top of the first with a solo run to lead 1-0, which was followed by Treynor’s three runs in the bottom of the inning, taking the 3-1 lead. Aiden Alt and the Wheeler defense got their game back on track in the second and third innings, slowing down the Treynor offense and stopping the running game. Audubon’s offense played off that momentum with solo runs in the top of the second and third innings, tying up the game at 3-3. Braden Wessel, Ethan Klocke, Gavin Smith, and Cooper Nielsen all grabbed RBIs in this game, giving Audubon a good offensive showing.
Treynor returned to form in the bottom of the fourth and fifth with two runs scored in each inning, taking back the lead at 7-3. After another run scored in the bottom of the sixth and slowing down the Audubon offense to a halt, Treynor took a 8-3 lead into the top of the seventh. Audubon, despite the score difference, got to work climbing back in this game. The Wheelers eventually scored three runners in the top of the seventh, significantly cutting down the Treynor lead to 8-6. Unfortunately, the late game heroics were cut short by Treynor who stopped the run game for Audubon at three runs and won the game at home 8-6 in the top of the seventh.
Audubon falls to 7-14 overall on the season and 6-11 in the Western Iowa Conference. Audubon wraps up their week with a non-conference game at home against ACGC on Thursday, July 1st.

South Central Calhoun gained more game experience for district play next week as they took on Roland Story in a non-conference game Monday night.
In the top of the first, The Titans were unable to bring home runners against the Roland Story defense. The Norsemen got their offense going in the bottom of the first, quickly getting a big lead built up to 11-0. The Titans were able to grab a run in the top of the second and third with Andrew Anderson and Zach Trot scoring those runs. Roland Story continued to put up runs, adding one run in the bottom of the second, three in the third, and two more in the bottom of the fourth. The consistent scoring from Roland Story was too much for South Central Calhoun to handle as The Norsemen walked away with the 17-2 win in four innings.
South Central Calhoun continues their week with a conference matchup against Southeast Valley on the road on Wednesday, June 30th.

The remainder of the Gilbert and Carroll game was played out Monday evening where Gilbert walked away with the victory. The suspended game was from June 16th where Gilbert was leading 7-2 in the top of the 5th inning with one out and nobody on base.
Before the game was suspended last week, Ty Nissen got the Carroll offense going with an RBI sacrifice fly to cut down the Gilbert lead to 2-1. Gilbert scored at least a run from the first inning to the fourth, to eventually take the 7-2 lead coming into the fifth inning. Ryan Johnston grabbed run number two for Carroll as he scored on an error.
In the resumption of the game Monday, Gilbert was unable to get runners home in the fifth, which allowed Carroll to respond. Johnston continued his work in the batters box as he cleared an RBI single to cut down the Gilbert lead to 7-3. Gilbert picked up the pace in the sixth and seventh with four runs scored and three runs scored in those respective innings, taking the 14-3 lead. Carroll attempted to make an improbable comeback when Jack Troutman got the offense going with an RBI single, cutting down the lead to 14-4. Ultimately, Gilbert’s large lead allowed them to close out the seventh inning and take home the win 14-4.
