Jefferson Man Charged With Homicide By Vehicle For September Death Of Lanesboro Man

A Jefferson man has been charged with homicide by vehicle, operating under the influence, following an investigation into a September 2020 accident north of Lidderdale. A complaint was filed this (Tuesday) morning in Iowa District Court for Carroll County against 21-year-old Jacob Allen Hubbs. According to court documents, the class B felony charge is being levied for the unintentional death of 76-year-old Kenneth Lee Johnston of Lanesboro in that two-vehicle accident Sept. 4. It was approximately 12:50 p.m. when Hubbs was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Robin Avenue and failed to stop for a posted sign, striking the driver’s side of the 2007 Toyota Corolla Johnston was driving westbound on 130th Street. Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene. A class B felony in Iowa is punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
