Vic, as he was known to most, was born on January 16, 1946 in Santa Monica, CA, and he was the son of Victor and Helen (Kruzich) Hornick.  He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1964.  He attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, MO, and DMACC in Boone before enlisting in the United States Navy.  He served four years and was stationed in Rhode Island and Florida.  Vic served on the USS Wasp and the USS Forestal aircraft carriers as a helicopter electrician. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Carroll and worked for Hyland Texaco Gas Station as a mechanic and then for General Electric for over 25 years in industrial maintenance.  In retirement, Vic enjoyed his freedoms: trucks, hot rods, and supporting the United States Military.  He was very active with the Merle Hay Post #386 American Legion of Glidden and served on the honor guard and as secretary.

Vic is survived by his brother William Hornick of Glidden; a sister Rose Hornick of Carroll; three nieces: Jill Hornick, Emily Vorland (April), and Erin Vorland; one nephew John Hornick; and several cousins and other extended family members.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Helen Hornick; a sister Annette Rose in infancy in 1945; and his brother Dennis in 2003.
