Carroll rode the wave of late game base running and scoring to ultimately defeat Nevada Friday evening. Carroll went four full innings without putting a run up on the board, all the while Nevada got out to a four run lead. Despite the large deficit, Carroll turned the game around in the top of the fifth with a monstrous eight runners scored. Ryan Johnston gave Carroll a two RBI double, Colby Christensen and Case Schable had an RBI sac fly, Slade Sibenaller got a bases loaded RBI walk, and Jack Troutman and Treyton Goins got an RBI single.
Nevada continued to add runs to their total, bringing home another two runners in the bottom of the fifth to cut down the Carroll lead to 8-6. Carroll and Nevada each added a run to their scores in the sixth innings, bringin the game up to 9-7. The defining inning for Carroll was the seventh where they brought home another four runners. Goins and Feldman both grabbed another RBI single as Ty Nissen brought home two runners off a two RBI single. Despite five Tiger errors that lead to four unearned runs for Nevada, Ethan and Evan Loew performed well on the mound, allowing those four earned runs off five hits, four walks, and recording four strikeouts together.
Nevada was able to score another runner in the bottom of the seventh, cutting down the Tiger lead to 13-8, but Carroll’s defense got the job done and ultimately brought home the 13-8 win.
Carroll improves to 10-7 on the season and closes out the week going 2-2. The Tigers return from the weekend break with a game on the road against North Polk on Monday, June 21st.

Kuemper and Bishop Heelan’s game was delayed twice and ultimately called after the top of the seventh at a tie Friday night. It was an entertaining game to start where BIshop Heelan and Kuemper both scored a run after the first inning. Bishop Heelan took the lead in the top of the third with a solo run to lead 2-1. Carter Putney took the mound for Kuemper and he had a good night pitching. Putney went five innings pitched, allowing only two earned runs and recording three strikeouts.
Kuemper responded well in the bottom of the fourth as Cal Wanninger grabbed a great hit that he turned into an RBI triple with hard base running, tying up the game at 2-2. Wanninger was allowed to take home and score off a balk from the pitcher, giving Kuemper the 3-2 lead. Kuemper and Bishop Heelan went scoreless in the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth, Bishop Heelan was able to score another solo runner and tie up the ball game for the third time at 3-3. After the top of the sixth, the game was halted due to spotted lightning by the umpire and stopped for more than 45 minutes. Play eventually resumed in the bottom of the sixth where Kuemper was unable to get another run to grab the lead. Kuemper got a fly out and a strikeout to get Bishop Heelan up to two outs, but another lightning strike was enough for Bishop Heelan to call it a game. Kuemper and Bishop Heelan tie at 3-3.
Kuemper’s record stands at 10-4-1. Kuemper is back in action following the weekend with a double header home game against Shenandoah on Monday, June 21st.

Both teams scored early but then pitching took over and both teams stranded runners on base as East Sac rallied for a 4-2 win. South Central Calhoun struck first, scoring twice in the 1st inning. Ayden Toms singled and scored and Zach Trott singled and scored on an RBI single by Gavin Batta. The Titans had a runner thrown out at 3rd to end the inning on the play. They scored two runs on four hits in the inning.
East Sac responded quickly in the 2nd inning. Preston Mauer and Aden Vondrak walked, Brock Mandernatch singled. The Raiders scored the first three guys that came to the plate and scored a 4th run on back to back Titan errors. East Sac had 7 more baserunners the rest of the game. The Titans had Kevin King at 3rd in the 4th inning and had runners on 2nd and 3rd in the 5th but the Raiders were able to get out of trouble.
East Sac finished with 7 hits with Preston Mauer having a pair of base hits. Tyler Wright led the team with 2 RBI and Aden Vondrak had a base hit, RBI and scored. Dylan Meredith got the start and picked up the win going 4 innings, allowing 7 hits and 2 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.
Ayden Toms had 2 hits for South Central Calhoun and scored a run. Zach Trott had an RBI and scored a run while Kevin King doubled. Gavin Batta took the loss going all 7 innings, allowing 6 hits and 0 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.
The win improves East Sac to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Titans fall to 0-14 overall and 0-7 in the Twin Lakes. East Sac hosts Sioux Central on Monday. South Central Calhoun travels to Storm Lake St Mary’s.

Coon Rapids Bayard grabbed win number four on the week as they defeated Exira-EHK on Friday night. The Crusaders got the night started with three runs between the first two innings, taking a 3-0 lead. Preston McAlister got the start on the mound for Coon Rapids Bayard, and in five innings pitched, he only allowed two hits, three walks, and recorded seven strikeouts.
Coon Rapids Bayard saw difficulties scoring in the third, fourth, and fifth and were unable to add runs to their lead. Despite the drop in runs scored, the Crusaders picked up the pace again in the bottom of the sixth where they added four runs to take the 7-0 lead. Easton Hays contributed well to the Crusaders good scoring night as he went two for three in his at bats, getting a triple, and an RBI. Kolby Culbertson provided good base running for Coon Rapids Bayard, getting two stolen bases and a run scored. Culbertson was the relief pitcher starting in the sixth inning, allowing two hits, no runs, and recording three strikeouts.
Culbertson and the Coon Rapids Bayard defense closed out the game in the top of the seventh and grabbed the 7-0 win.
Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 16-4 overall on the season and 10-2 in the Rolling Valley Conference while Exira-EHK falls to 6-10 on the season and 3-7 in the RVC. The Crusaders return from the weekend break with a road game against CAM Anita on Monday, June 21st.

Audubon had good base running against Missouri Valley, but were unable to close the gap in their game Friday evening. Audubon got their night started off well as Joel Klocke kept Missouri Valley to no runs and the Wheeler offense got two runners scored to take the early 2-0 lead. Missouri Valley eventually responded in the top of the third inning as they scored two runners of their own to tie up the game at 2-2.
The Big Reds continued to ride off their hitting success as they’d score three more runners in the top of the fourth to take their first lead in the game at 5-2. Audubon took a crack at Missouri Valley’s lead as they scored another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut down the lead to 5-3. Gavin Smith was the relief pitcher for the Wheelers coming in during the fifth inning. Smith kept the Big Reds at bay in the fifth and sixth, not allowing any runs to be scored and grabbing four strikeouts in his time on the hill. Missouri Valley returned in the top of the seventh with two more runs added to their total, taking a 7-3 lead. The Big Reds were able to keep Audubon at bay in the bottom of the seventh, ultimately walking away with the 7-3 win.
Audubon falls to 6-9 on the season and 5-8 in Western Iowa Conference standings. Missouri Valley improves to 9-10 overall on the season and 5-8 in the Western Iowa Conference. Audubon wraps up the busy week of play with a non-conference home game against Denison Schleswig on Saturday, June 19th.

Glidden Ralston continued to learn and improve as they faced off against conference foe Boyer Valley Friday evening. Boyer Valley started off the game by getting up 3-0 after two innings of play. Glidden Ralston responded in the bottom of the second with a solo run to chip away at the Boyer Valley lead at 3-1.
Ethan Olberding was on the mound for Glidden Ralston through four full innings where he was able to stop Boyer Valley from scoring in the third and fourth innings. Olberding allowed six earned runs of three hits, five walks, two hit batters, and recorded three strikeouts. Boyer Valley bounced back in the top of the fifth inning as they added four runs and increased their lead to 7-1. Glidden Ralston also bounced back in their at bats in the bottom of the fifth as they brought home three runners and cut down the Boyer Valley lead to 7-4. Caden Smith was the big hitter for Glidden Ralston in this game, going two for four, scoring a run, and credited for three RBI.
After another scoreless inning for both teams in the sixth inning, Boyer Valley pushed forward in the top of the seventh with four more added runs to their total, now at 11-4. Glidden Ralston was able to score a runner in the bottom of the seventh, cutting down the lead to 11-5, but were soon shut down to give Boyer Valley the win.
Glidden Ralston has a three day break from games, but returns next week as they take on South Central Calhoun on Tuesday, June 22 at home.

IKM-Manning played some of it’s younger players in a game of learning and improving against LoMa Friday night. LoMa started off the first inning with three runs while IKM-Manning had a great response with two runs of their own, giving LoMa the 3-2 lead after the first inning. Sophomore pitcher Cooper Perdew got the start for IKM-Manning and was able to keep LoMa to five runs by the third inning.
The Wolves grabbed another run in the bottom of the fourth, cutting down the LoMa lead to 7-3. LoMa and IKM-Manning both added two runs apiece to their totals in the fifth inning, leaving LoMa with a 9-5 lead. LoMa started to widen the gap in the top of the sixth as they added three more runs to their lead, now at 12-5. LoMa ended the game in the top of the seventh, adding six more runs to their lead and winning 18-5.
