Gas and diesel prices held relatively steady over the past week while the cost of natural gas jumped nearly a dime. According to AAA Iowa, as of Wednesday, June 9, the price of unleaded gasoline again averaged $2.88 across the state, $.88 higher than one year ago. The national average rose $.03 over the week to $3.07. Retail diesel prices were up a penny to a statewide average of $3.06, which is $.14 less than the national average of $3.20 and $.09 higher than one year ago. Wholesale ethanol prices actually declined by $.02 to $2.46 per gallon. The cost of natural gas is up $.09 to $3.15 per MMbtu.
