Boone at Carroll

Boone      13

Carroll      4

Carroll earned good game experience as they faced off against conference foe Boone Monday night. The Toreadors brought strong batters and pitchers to Carroll as they’d start off the night with five runs in the first inning and leave the Tigers scoreless. Carroll’s first hit of the night didn’t come until the bottom of the third where Evan Loew reached first base. As Boone led 9-0 in the fourth inning, Colby Christensen was able to get Carroll on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth to score Ty Nissen. Austin Fineran in his three and two thirds innings pitched allowed three earned runs off seven hits, three walks, and recorded three strikeouts. Evan Loew relieved Fineran in the fourth inning.

With Loew on the mound, Carroll started to liven up as they’d keep Boone scoreless in the top of the fifth, and limit them to one run in the top of the sixth. The Tigers had a big sixth inning in their at bats as they’d get three runners home thanks to some pitching errors by Boone, and cut the lead down to 10-4. Jack Troutman had an RBI sacrifice, Slade Sibenaller stole home, and Ty Nissen scored on a wild pitch in those three runs. Boone responded in the top of the seventh with three runs of their own, leading 13-4. Boone closed out the game in the bottom of the seventh limiting Carroll to no hits and a single runner left of base to win 13-4.
