Carroll and Kuemper At Ogden Tournament

Carroll cruised in their first game of the day against Greene County scoring 5 runs in the 1st inning and 9 runs in the 3rd inning. The Tigers had 11 hits including a blast over the left field fence by Vanessa Ayala. Ava Gross, Chloe Gallegos and Parker Adams all had 2 hits and Gallegos drove on 3 runs. Greene County threatened in the 3rd inning but weren’t able to score. Camyrn Schable got the win going 2 innings and giving up 1 hit, Averi Burke pitched the 3rd inning allowing 2 hits but no runs. They combined to strike out 5. Carroll was aggressive on the base paths all day, having 14 stolen bases vs Greene County and Ogden. Carroll built an early lead against Ogden scoring 5 runs in the 2nd inning and 3 more in the 4th. They had 11 hits with Parker Adams hitting a triple and Makalei Kofron finishing with a double. Alyssa Brant picked up the win against the Bulddogs going all 5 innings with only allowing 3 hits. Unlike the first two games of the day the Tigers started slowly against Webster City. The Lynx got 3 runs in the 1st inning and then rallied after Carroll scored 3 runs in the 5th to make it a 1 run game the Lynx scored 2 runs in the top of the 6th. Alyssa Brant took the loss for Carroll going 5 innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs. Offensively Carroll finished with 6 hits led by Josie Ayala who tripled and drove in a pair of runs. Brielle Hinners added a double.
Kuemper looked like they would end their first game early leading Webster City 11-1 heading into the 5th inning. The Lynx responded with a pair of runs but Kuemper shut the door over the final two innings. Chloe Venteicher pitched well going all 7 inning and picking up the win. She allowed 6 hits and 3 earned runs. Kenzie Schon homered and finished with 2 hits and 3 RBI. Kamryn Venner, Kenadee Loew and Schon all had a pair of hits. Jordan Schwabe tripled and drove in a pair of runs. Venner also had 2 RBI. The Knights finished the tournament with a 6-2 win over SE Valley. Kamryn Venner garnered the win going 5 innings, giving up 2 hits and 2 earned runs. Hailey Ostrander continued her great start to the season with 3 hits, while Jordan Schwabe (2-2B’s), Kenzie Schon (2-2B’s) both had 2 hits. Kyndal Hilgenberg had a pair of RBI and Jordan Schwabe had 3 RBI.
Kuemper sits at 3-2 and Carroll is 3-4 as they square off on Tuesday.
