AWV, Glidden Ralston, SCC, East Sac, IKM-Manning, and Audubon Girls Track Teams Compete Monday Before State Qualifying Meets Later This Week

Ar-We-Va, Glidden Ralston, and South Central Calhoun at East Sac

 

Ar-We-Va, Glidden Ralston, and South Central Calhoun competed, along with the East Sac team, at the 2021 East Sac Relays. East Sac placed the best among area teams placing fourth with 84 team points, followed by South Central Calhoun in fifth with 66 points, Glidden Ralston in sixth with 65 points, and Ar-We-Va in seventh with 37 points. 

 

Emma Schroeder for East Sac performed well in her two individual events. She won the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:37.33 and got second place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:07.17. Meredith Brown won an event for East Sac, winning the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.60. Brianna Boeckman competed in the shot put event and finished in second place with a throw of 34-09.00. East Sac’s 4X100 and 4X200 relay teams got top two finishes for the Raiders. Hannah Pudenz, Jen Aschinger, Carly Fischer, and Brooke Jergens made up the 4X100 team that finished in second place with a time of 53.33. Pudenz, Aschinger, Jergens, and Brown were part of the 4X200 relay team that finished in second place with a time of 1:56.05. 

 

South Central Calhoun finished the meet with two top two finishes that gave the Titans a good amount of points. Chloe Judisch won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:37.71. Judisch was also part of the sprint medley relay team, along with Olivia Toms, Kortney Riley, and Jade Ridgely, who got second place with a time of 2:00.44. 

 

Glidden Ralston saw three individuals finish in the top two in two or more events. Vanessa Koehler won the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.03 and got second place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.20. Alexia Nelson did well in the distance events, winning the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:53.26 and finishing in second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:41.20. Tiela Janssen got a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:19.15 and was part of the distance medley relay team, along with Nelson, Savannah Bennett, and Morgan Tuel, that got second with a time of 5:02.91. 

 

Ar-We-Va’s Kora Obrecht was part of the Rocket’s two top finishes. Obrecht got second place in the long jump event with a jump of 16-02.50 and was part of the shuttle hurdle relay, along with Maggie Ragaller, Elizabeth Brunner, and Jamie Hausman, that won the event with a time of 1:12.71.

IKM-Manning at Boyer Valley

 

In their last meet before the state qualifying meet on Thursday, IKM-Manning won the Boyer Valley coed invitational meet Monday. The Wolves finished with 105 points, followed by West Monona with 88, Boyer Valley with 53, West Harrison with 48, and Whiting with 14. The Wolves got a good chunk of first place finishes at the meet. 

 

Alexa Ahrenholtz won two events at the meet, one individual and one relay. She won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.52 and, along with Amber Halbur, Bianca Cadwell, and Abbagail Neiheisel, won the 4X100 relay with a time of 54.79. Cadwell also got an individual first place finish, for her it was in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:07.16. The fourth and final first place finish for the Wolves came in the shuttle hurdle relay. Neiheisel, Halbur, Jessica Christensen, and Maddie Snyder won the event with a final time of 1:26.87. 

 

IKM-Manning will be in Audubon, along with Coon Rapids Bayard and Glidden Ralston, for the Class 1A state qualifying meet on Thursday, May 13th.

Audubon at Tri Center

 

The Audubon Wheelers competed at Tri-Center Monday in their last track meet before Thursday’s state qualifying meet. The Wheelers finished in seventh place overall with 43 points, closely behind LoMa, who finished in sixth place with 44 points. Underwood won the meet with 98 points. This meet proved to be good practice for the Wheelers as they took home some quality top three finishes. 

 

Hannah Thygesen individually got second place in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:28.20. Thygesen was also part of the 4X400 relay team, along with Madison Steckler, Mattie Nielsen, and Abigail Zaiger, that finished in second place with a time of 4:25.68. Elizabeth Zaiger got a third place finish in the discus event with a throw of 103-02. Grace Slater also grabbed a third place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:41.71. Audubon’s shuttle hurdle team, consisting of Mattie and Katelyn Nielsen, Steckler, and Madison Burr, got third place with a time of 1:12.56. 

 

Audubon will host  the Class 1A state qualifying track meet on Thursday.
