Ar-We-Va, East Sac, Kuemper and Paton Churdan At Ross Samuelson Relays At South Central Calhoun

Kuemper used their depth and success in the relays to pull out a tight win over East Sac in a fun meet on Friday in Lake City. The Knights and Raiders battled for 1^st place most of the night with SE Valley hanging in the race until late along with Sioux Central. The Knights picked up 123 points thanks in part to two wins in relays along with three 2^nd place finishes in relays. Their individual events were no slouches as well with three titles and a 2^nd place finish including going 1-2 in the 1600 Meters. East Sac hung tough with two wins in individual events and three 2^nd places in individual events including going 1-2 in the Shot Put. The Raiders were also solid in relays with two 1^st place finishes. The finished with 115 points and 2^nd place overall. Ar-We-Va was 5^th with 57 points, South Central Calhoun was nipping at the Rockets heals in 6^th with 53 points and Paton Churdan was 7^th with 17 points.

Michael Pottebaum led Kuemper with 1^st place finishes in the 800 Meters (2:05.70) and 1600 Meters (4:58.03). Jacob Greving was also good for Kuemper winning the 3200 Meters (11:08.01) and taking 2^nd in the 1600 Meters (5:06.75). Justin Rupnow (45-11.00) in the Shot Put and Tyler Schmitt (52.26) in the 400 Meters claimed titles for East Sac. Cale Niehaus added more points for East Sac taking 2^nd in both the Discus (112-00) and the Shot Put (40-00.50) while CJ Frank went 2^nd in the 400 Hurdles (59.97). Cole Corey was solid again for South Central Calhoun. Coming off a week where he took 1^st place in all 7 events he competed in Corey earned two more 1^st in the 400 Hurdles (56.67), Long Jump (20-10.25) and a pair of 2^nd places 110 Hurdles (15.64) and High Jump (6-00). Cooper Kock of Ar-We-Va continued his strong week winning the High Jump (6-02) while nearly missing his 2^nd attempt at 6-7 for a new school record which he set earlier this week. Will Ragaller of Ar-We-Va competing in his first track meet of the season was 2^nd in the Long Jump (20-00.00). Ragaller also golfs and hadn’t been available for any of the Rockets earlier meets this week. The Paton Churdan Rockets continue to get great showings in the Discus from Bradyn Smith who took 1^st again (119-03).

Kuemper won the Sprint Medley (1:38.57) with Logan Sibenaller, Tanner Higby, Max Meyers and Michael Pottebaum along with winning the Distance Medley (3:47.60) with Max Meyers, Tanner Higby, Garrett Christensen and Michael Pottebaum. The Knights were 2^nd in the 4×100 (47.96) with Logan Sibenaller, Ben Gerken, Garrett Christensen and Tanner Higby, 2^nd in the 4×400 (3:52.51) with Kyle Sundrup, Grant Nielsen, Patrick Hensel and Trevor Rial along with taking 2^nd in the 4×800 (9:16.17) with Kody Lampman, Grant Nielsen, Patrick Hensel, Trevor Rial. East Sac won the 4×100 (47.13) with Alex Hauser, Cale Niehaus, Tyler Schmitt and Ace Thelen and they won the Shuttle Hurdle (1:08.37) with Alex Hauser, CJ Frank, Cole Babe and Ace Thelen. Ar-We-Va was .01 behind the Raiders in the Shuttle Hurdle for 2^nd place (1:08.38) with Will Ragaller, Zach Schimmer, Braeden Kirsch and Cooper Kock.
