Lake City – Janet Stone, 75, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Lampe & Powers Funeral Home in Lake City with burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Rockwell City. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lampe & Powers Funeral Home in Lake City.
Janet Mary “Jan” Stone was born on August 6, 1945 in Manchester, England to Harold and Mary (Caffrey) Wittmer. After graduating from high school, she completed secretarial school. Janet was married to Jim Stone and to this union two children were born; Mike and Susan. The couple later divorced. Janet met her better half, Jim Soy and although the couple never married, they spent 30 years together before his death in 2013. Over the years, Janet used her secretarial skills working at Macke Motors in Lake City, Simplot in Lohrville, the Lake City Country Club, and also a flower business she owned in Lake City for a short time.
Janet is survived by her children Mike (Shelly) Stone of Twin Lakes and Susan Stone of Louisville, KY; grandchildren Logan Stone (Samantha) and children Huxleigh and Aiden, Aspen Stone (Kyle) and children Greeley, Boulder and Kyla, Garrett Bottorff (Jenny), Sabrina Stone and children Brendan and Terance; sister-in-law Kathy Wittmer; nieces Amy and Christine; and lifelong friend Peggy Taylor Hemness. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Mary Wittmer; better half Jim Soy; and brother Robert Wittmer.
