Formal charges have been filed in Carroll County District Court against a Lake City man on drug trafficking allegations. Thirty-three-year-old Nicholas Russell Pickering, who also claimed residence in Maple River, faces one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a class C felony. He was arrested following a Feb. 17 traffic stop by the Carroll Police Department. Authorities say unused baggies and a scale were found inside his vehicle along with the narcotics. His arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Monday, April 19. Pickering is also scheduled to go to trial at the end of April on a separate drug trafficking charge stemming from a Nov. 24, 2020 incident in Carroll. Each class C felony carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
