Eight Area Girls Golfs Teams Compete Monday; Carroll High, Audubon, and IKM-Manning Pick Up Team Wins

Ballard at Carroll

 

Team Standings

The Carroll Tigers finished a cold and windy day with a win against Ballard on Monday. Carroll finished with 195 points versus Ballard’s 225. The Tiger’s two top golfers ended their days with medalist and runner-up medalist honors, while the four other golfers played well scoring in the low to mid 50s. 

 

Laura Sweeney led her team with an individual score of 46, earning her medalist honors. Grace Pettitt was one stroke shy of tying Sweeney as she ended her day with a 47. Pettitt earned runner-up medalist honors. The other Tigers in action were Ashlee Danner who ended her day with a score of 50, Delaney Schurke who scored 53, Abby Danner who scored 54, and Erin Winker who ended her day with a  score of 56. 

 

Head Girls Golf Coach Tony Hooper says the cold and windy weather has been a struggle for his players. Despite that, he was impressed with their competitiveness during what was a difficult and windy day.

Kuemper and Denison-Schleswig at Atlantic

 

Team Standings

The Kuemper Knights had some difficulties fighting the cold and wind against Atlantic and Denison-Schleswig Monday. The Knights finished in third place with a team score of 260, behind Denison-Schleswig with 218 points and Atlantic with 198 points. 

 

Abby Nees, despite tying Roni Hook and Abby Smith of Atlantic, was unable to earn medalist or runner-up medalist honors. Nees ended her day scoring a 48 while fighting off the wind and cold. The other Knights in action Monday included Kenna Soppe who ended her night with a 56, Grace Tigges who scored a 73, and Kara Daniel who finished with an 83.

Coon Rapids Bayard and Glidden-Ralston at Boyer Valley

The Coon Rapids Bayard and Glidden-Ralston golf teams were both in action Monday at the Rolling Valley Conference meet at Boyer Valley. The Crusaders ended their day with a second place finish with a score of 223 behind eventual meet winners Boyer Valley who had a score of 206. Glidden-Ralston would finish in sixth with a team score of 272. 

 

Coon Rapids Bayard saw three of their golfers score in the low to high 50s. Emma Hart ended her day with a score of 52. Not too far behind her was Alaya Betts who scored a 54. The third individual to score in the 50s for the Crusaders was Brynn Bass who ended her meet with a score of 58. The other golfers in action included Morgen Hart who scored a 60, Haley Halbur who was one stroke behind her with a 61, and Macy Winnet who ended her day with a score of 64.

 

For the Glidden-Ralston Wildcats, Kim Daily walked away with runner-up medalist honors with a score of 49 on the day. Other Wildcats in action included Elizabeth Lloyd who scored a 72, Paige Klocke who ended up with a score of 74, and Macy Snyder who scored a 77.

The East Sac Raiders were in competition on a cold and windy Monday against Newell-Fonda, Sioux Central, and Manson Northwest Webster. Two of the Raiders’ golfers were able to score in the mid 60s. Lauren Litterer ended her day with a score of 65 while Jamie Pierce got a score of 67. The other golfers for the Raiders were Sidney Bieret who scored a 70 and Lexi Thomsen who scored a 71. 

 

Medalist honors went to Alexis Barber of Newell-Fonda finishing with a 47 as runner-up medalist honors went to Kendra Kasey  Sioux Central who ended her day with a 49.

IKM-Manning at Tri Center

The IKM-Manning Wolves picked up a team win in cold and windy conditions against Tri-Center Monday. The Wolves finished the day with a team score of 218 against Tri-Center’s 235. They also walked away with both medalist and runner-up medalist honors. 

 

Kylie Powers finished her day 10 above par with a score of 46 earning her medalist honors. Bre Muhlbauer was right behind Powers scoring a 48 on the day, which earned her runner-up medalist honors. The Wolves three other golfers were Maeve Nielsen who scored a 58 on the day, Brooke Booth who scored a 66, and Eryn Ramsey who scored a 69 on the day.

AHSTW at Audubon

 

Team Standings

The Audubon Wheelers were able to shoot well on a windy day against AHSTW on Monday. The Wheelers concluded their day with a team victory with a score of 227 against AHSTW’s 256 team score. Three of the Wheelers were able to score in the low to high 50s.

 

Sydney Beymer ended her day with runner-up medalist honors as she scored a 52. She would score a single par on the day on hole four and three bogies despite the windy conditions. Kali Irlmeier was two strokes behind Beymer scoring a 54 on the day. Irlmeier saw similar struggles in the first two holes as Beymer did, but shot bogies and double bogies throughout the day.  Madison Vorm was the other Wheeler who scored in the 50s with a 58. Allison Elmpuist was the final Wheeler who golfed at the meet, scoring a 63 on the day. 

 

Head Girls Golf Coach Paul Lynch says Irlmeier and Vorm beat their averages at this meet and he was pleased with the consistency in their playing.

Alta-Aurelia, Southeast Valley, and Storm Lake St. Mary’s at South Central Calhoun

 

Team Standings

    2. Southeast Valley 252
    3. South Central Calhoun 258
    4. Storm Lake St. Mary’s 299

The South Central Calhoun Titans finished well against Alta-Aurelia, Southeast Valley, and Storm Lake St. Mary’s Monday. The Titans finished in third place with a team score of 258, six strokes behind Southeast Valley who had 252. Alta-Aurelia would win this meet with a team score of 233. The Titans saw one individual score in the high 50s and two individuals score in the mid 60s. 

 

Allison Stokes ended her day with a 58 and runner-up medalist honors. Stokes had difficulties in holes one through four, getting a triple bogey on hole one and a quadruple bogey on hole four, but she improved in the last parts of the course, getting three bogies. Sayer Steig would end her day with a score of 64 with Macy Macke not too far behind her with a score of 66. The other Titans in action on Monday include Emma Anderson who ended her day with a score of 70, Mia Babcock who scored an 80, and Morgan Neal who scored an 83.
