A Rippey woman charged in Carroll County District Court with felony drug possession has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors. According to court records, 52-year-old Becky Sue Mitchell was charged with third-offense possession of a controlled substance—methamphetamine, a class D felony, following a July 2020 traffic stop. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office K9, Ruger, alerted to the presence of narcotics, and officers located four baggies containing methamphetamine during a search of the vehicle. Mitchell filed her written guilty with the court last week with a sentencing hearing scheduled for Thursday, April 22. A class D felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
