Lanesboro city officials have issued a boil order until further notice for customers on the community’s water supply. The advisory was issued shortly before noon on Monday after staff discovered a water main break. The city temporarily shut off water service at 1 p.m. to expedite the repair process. Once service is restored, residents will need to use bottled water or bring water used for consumption to a rolling boil for at least one minute. This includes drinking, cooking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and other similar purposes. Tap water can still be used to run laundry or shower, so long as the water is not swallowed.
