Jefferson PD Requests Warrants Against Two Women After Investigation Into Identity Theft

The Jefferson Police Department has requested warrants on a woman from Marshalltown and another from Liscomb after an investigation into the report of identity theft earlier this month. The incident actually began on Dec. 26, 2020, when an officer pulled over a vehicle for speeding. A female subject supplied identification and a citation was issued. Another woman later called the department, saying her identity had been used without her knowledge and she had been notified her license had been suspended for failure to pay the fine. The officer reviewed video footage of the stop and confirmed the driver he pulled over had given him false information. However, warrants are also requested against the owner of the vehicle, who was a passenger in the car during the traffic stop. The warrants requested against 20-year-old Cheyenne L. Johnson (Marshalltown) are for identity theft, forgery and driving while barred, all aggravated misdemeanors, and failure to provide proof of financial liability, providing false information to an officer and excessive speed, simple misdemeanors. The owner and passenger, 23-year-old Makayla Mai Neave (Liscomb), is facing charges of fraudulent use of registration and permitting an unauthorized person to drive, simple misdemeanors.
