Blake McAlister of South Central advanced into the Class 1A 170 championship match with a pair of impressive wins on Friday. McAlister won his quarterfinal round match over Aidan Udell of Iowa City Regina 14-6. McAlister picked up a 2-1 win over Max Kohl of Lisbon in the semifinals. He will wrestle against Cade Tenold of Don Bosco. Jayden Soard of South Central Calhoun advanced into the 7th place match with a 8-1 win over Sage Hulshizer of St Ansgar at 220 pounds in the 2nd round consolation but lost a late lead and fell 5-4 to Damon Meyer of South Winneshiek in the 3rd round consolation. He will wrestle for 7th against Luke Recker of East Buchanan. Shae Parkis of Kuemper had tough loss in the closing seconds in his 2nd round consolation match at 138 pounds in Class 2A, falling to Michael Macias of Assumption. Carter Drake of Carroll began his day in the Class 3A 138 pound quarterfinals against Dylan Whitt of Cedar Falls. He lost 8-4 and moved into the 2nd round consolations were he met Cayden Langrek of Waverly Shell Rock. Drake fell by fall in 1:59. Jaxson Kuhlmann of Carroll took on Carter Fecht of Waverley Shell Rock in the 2nd round consolations at 126 pounds. Kuhlmann lost 8-4. Carroll Tiger Abraham Dirkx took on Carson Martinson of SE Polk in the quarterfinals and lost by fall in 3:17. Dirkx bounced back in the 2nd round consolations and beat Cole Rutter of Spencer and won 8-2 to advance into the 3rd round consolations. Dirkx battled Colin Driscol of Waukee and held on for a 5-4 win to advance into the consolation semifinals against Graham Gambrall of Iowa City West.
