Slick Roadways Responsible For At Least Two Accidents Thursday In Jefferson

The Jefferson Police Department responded to three motor vehicle accidents Thursday afternoon. At approximately 3:20 p.m., an officer responded to the scene of the first accident at the intersection of Washington and N. High Streets. Their initial investigation found a 2010 Dodge Avenger, driven by Payton Kinsey of Jefferson, was traveling southbound on High Street and failed to yield to an oncoming 2019 Ford Edge, driven by Katherine Pittman of Jefferson, at the uncontrolled intersection. The Dodge sustained approximately $800 in damage and the Ford $400. Kinsey was cited for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right. The next accident occurred about 30 minutes later at the intersection of Lincoln Way and Vine Streets. Authorities say a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Emma Olson of Perry, was traveling northbound on Vine and slid through a posted stop sign due to slick road conditions. Olson collided with a westbound 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, operated by Rodney Scheuermann of Scranton. Damage to the Malibu is estimated at $1,000 and $400 to the pickup. The final accident occurred at approximately 4:11 p.m. at the intersection of Pinet and Harrison Streets. A 2013 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Jaclynn Cunningham of Jefferson, was unable to stop at the uncontrolled intersection and struck a southbound 2011 Kia Sedona, driven by Angela Murphy of Jefferson. The Jeep sustained approximately $500 in damage while the Murphy vehicle had a reported $700. No injuries were reported in any of these accidents.
