New Grave Location Software Will Soon Be Integrated Into City Of Carroll Website

In the coming weeks, a new feature will be added to the City of Carroll website after receiving approval from the city council earlier this week. This user-friendly software, Grave Discover, will assist those interested in locating graves within the Carroll City Cemetery. Austin Scott, the principal with Grave Discover, LLC, says he has been working with Parks and Recreation Director, Jack Wardell, for several years on integration of this service.

Scott says the features will allow users to search for occupied graves and those available for purchase with an interactive map of the cemetery.

The software allows search results to be displayed on the map or in list form. The mapping also outlines other points within the cemetery.

The information searched can also be printed. Council members requested that Scott look into increasing the contrast to provide easier readability. Carolyn Siemann wanted more details on exactly what information would be included with occupied sites and whether or not there will be photos of the gravesites. Wardell says the city records include the date of death, but other data is customizable. Scott expands on that.

Scott says the city could opt to allow people to submit photos and/or information to them for consideration with the final determination potentially up to assigned staff. During the initial development process, Grave Discover, LLC had received a one-time payment of $1,999. The council approved the software with an annual maintenance cost of $3,588. With this approval, integration into the city’s website will begin and Scott says it will easily be publicly available in the next several weeks.
