The Lake City Council has approved a $5,000 donation to Opportunity Living to aid in their effort to renovate the facility’s indoor pool. According to Administrator, Eric Wood, council members unanimously approved the contribution during their Feb. 1 meeting. The donation is sourced from franchise fees received from MidAmerican Energy Company. Opportunity Living has been working to raise at least $200,000 for the last several years to replace failing mechanical equipment to keep the pool operational. The pool is often used by the community members to host aerobic classes, lifeguard training, swimming lessons and other similar activities when the city’s outdoor pool is closed during the cooler parts of the year.
