Carroll Man Charged For December Burglary Will Go To Trial Feb. 8

A Carroll man arrested in December for allegedly kicking in the door of an occupied residence is scheduled to appear before a jury next month. According to Carroll County District Court records, 30-year-old Brice Edward Shrimpton is charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and met with prosecutors on Monday for a pretrial conference. The parties were unable to reach a plea agreement, and jury proceedings will commence on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Shrimpton is accused of breaking into a home in the 800 block of N. Court Street during the early morning hours of Dec. 14, violating an existing no contact order and damaging property. Shrimpton has demanded the right to a speedy trial and will appear before a jury less than two months after his arrest. He faces a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines if found guilty of the charge.
