For the first time since 2014, water rates in Lake View will not be increasing next year. City officials recently conducted a water and sewer analysis that found the departments have reached a strong enough fiscal position to not require a change. Rates starting increase by 12.5 percent per year six years ago to generate revenue to help fund the community’s $6.5 million wastewater lagoon. Construction on that project finished about a year ago, but it was not put into operation until last spring. According to City Administrator, Scott Peterson, it is not likely customers will see any significant rate increase for at least the next several years. He thanks residents for their patience and understanding while rates were changed as the city developed a wastewater system that should serve the community for decades to come.
