The 3rd ranked Tigers came out sharp on Friday only turning the ball over once in the 1st half as they built a 31-4 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Tigers were able to create turnovers in the half-court defense and turned those into easy layups on the other end for Kaleb Booth, Nicke Macke, Tory Feldman, Colby Christensen and Treyton Goins. Carroll only made 5-3’s on the night but didn’t need to take many. Kaleb Booth hit a two of the 3’s and had 12 points at half while Nick Macke was able to get the baseline and attack the rim scoring a team high 17 points in the 1st half. Carroll led 66-7 at the half.

Carroll used the 2nd half to work on different offensive sets in the half-court. Colby Christensen and Kaleb Booth did a nice job finding teammates and finished with 12 assists combined with a number of those early in the 2nd half.  Carroll had 11 different guys score and 7 players had 7 points or more and 4 finished in double figures.

Nick Macke had a game high 19 points, Kaleb Booth finished with 12 points and 5 assists. Colby Christsensen had 11 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and Tory Feldman added 10 points and 4 rebounds. Ethan Lengling scored 8 points, Treyton Goins 7 points and Caden Kock had 7 points off the bench.

Carroll heads into a tough stretch before the holiday break as they host Winterset on Tuesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard had a nice bounce back win as they moved to 2-1 on the season while Paton Churdan dropped their 2nd straight to slip to 1-3 overall.  The Crusaders stretched a 4 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter to 14 at half as Gabe Obert had 12 of his game high 22 points in the 1st half. The Crusaders hit 6-3’s and shot 49% from the field. Bradyn Smith did what he could to keep the Rockets in the game and scored 8 points in the 1st half. Coon Rapids Bayard was able to maintain the lead around 15-20 points the 2nd half. The Rockets played well and missed a few opportunities as they didn’t convert on a few layups and shots in the lane.

Gabe Obert led the Crusaders with 22 points while Easton Hays added 12 points. Tanner Oswald had a nice all-around game with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists as he just missed a triple double. Josue Ramirez added 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals in the win. Lance Clayburg also had 10 points.

Shaydon Thurman had team high 10 points for Paton Churdan, Bradyn Smith added 8 points and 3 steals. Connor Brus and Forest Thompson each had 7 points. Joe Carey chipped in with 6 rebounds.

Coon Rapids Bayard hosts Ar-We-Va on Tuesday while Paton Churdan goes to West Central Valley on Monday.

Ar-We-Va evened their record at 2-2 with a hard fought win. The Rockets did a nice job of limiting turnovers and fought back from down 10 points. They were down 4 at half and trailed 49-43 entering the final stanza. They chopped away at the deficit early in the 4th and then took over outscoring the Cougars 30-13. Ar-We-Va hit 20-30 from the free throw line. The win evens their over and Rolling Valley Conference record.

Three players finished in double figures with Will Ragaller leading the way with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Zach Schimmer ended with 17 points and Cooper Kock added 14 points and 7 rebounds.

Ar-We-Va looks to win their 2nd in a row when they head to Coon Rapids Bayard on Tuesday.

The Raiders played well in the 1st quarter but found themselves down by 4 entering the 2nd quarter. They began to get more aggressive especially on the offensive glass and did a nice job with Newell Fonda press. Gavin Vondrak sparked the rally off the bench with 6 points in the quarter and East Sac took a 29-28 lead into the half. The Raiders owned the glass in the 2nd half and got a few second chance points. A late 3rd quarter run put them up by 8 entering the final stanza. The Raiders extended the lead to 12 in the 4th and Joel Halbur and Cale Niehaus knocked down some clutch free throws.

Camden Schroeder had another great night on both sides of the floor and protected the rim well with 5 block shots to go with his 27 points and 17 rebounds. The Raiders defense locked down on Trey Jungers and held the Newell Fonda top player to just 2 points.

Tyler Schmitt added 11 points and 6 rebounds while Gavin Vondrak wound up with 9 points.

The win moves the Raiders to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in Twin Lakes Conference action. They host Pocahontas Area on Tuesday.

The Titans of South Central Calhoun improved to 4-1 on the season and stayed atop the Twin Lakes Conference at 2-0 with another big win. The Titans against used their pressure to create turnovers and rolled out to a 10 point lead after the 1st quarter. They blew the game open the 2nd quarter holding GTRA to 4 points, putting them up by 23 at half.  South Central Calhoun had 12 steals and 12 assists while shooting 44% from the field and hit 34.8% from three point range. Brennan Holder hit 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. The Titans pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.

Brennan Holder finished with a game high 20 points to go with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Joshua Dietrich added 16 points and 8 rebounds. Cole Coley had 8 points and 4 assists.

The Titans will look to continue to roll when they host SE Valley on Monday.

Glidden Ralston falls to 1-4 on the season as they drop their 3rd straight. The game was tight until late in the 1st quarter when the Bulldogs went on a run to extend it to a 10 point game heading into the 2nd quarter. The Wildcats played well the rest of the half and kept themselves in striking distance at half down by 12. The Bulldogs opened the 3rd with another spurt, dropping the Wildcats to 0-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference.

Karter Kennebeck and Carter Scott each scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively. Kennebeck added 8 rebounds and 6 steals. Scott pulled down 6 rebounds. Brigham Daniel finished with 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Wildcats look to bounce back when they host CAM Anita on Tuesday.

The struggles continued for IKM-Manning as they fell to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wolves battled hard and weren’t dominated in any portion of the game but the Vikings slowly pulled away outscoring the Wolves in every quarter by 1-6 points. The Wolves were down just 9 at half and 14 entering the 4th quarter.

Brody Swearingen had a nice double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kyler Rasmussen and Cooper Irlmeier each had 8 points and Luke Ramsey finished with 6 points.

The Wolves return to action on Saturday as they host Exira-EHK.
