This Saturday, the Community of Concern Food Pantry of Carroll County will be delivering goodness. Board President, Summer Parrott, says they are excited to be taking part in distributing food through a federal program.
The pantry is free to distribute those boxes as they see fit, and they have decided to open this up to everyone.
Those who are unable to come out on Saturday to pick up one of the food boxes have several options. Parrott says someone else can pick this up for you by showing the volunteers a handwritten note. The Carroll churches are making lists of people eligible for delivery, and area fire departments will be picking up boxes and you can contact the fire chief of your department to make arrangements to get a box. You can also contact Parrott directly through any of the methods included below. Parrott says these packages are chock full of great, fresh food items.
Volunteers will be distributing the boxes on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, Dec. 12 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Ace Hardware parking lot on East U.S. Highway 30 in Carroll. People are asked to not arrive earlier than five minutes prior and to enter the parking lot on the Plaza Drive frontage road—this is on the west side of the lot right off of Vine Street. Volunteers will direct drivers to one of three distribution lines they will have set up. Remain in your vehicle and keep the windows up, simply point to the back seat or pop the trunk and they will take care of loading the box or boxes for you. It is important to also follow directions for exiting the lot to keep the traffic flowing as smoothly as possible. They will continue to give the food boxes away as long as supplies last.
