Two-Week COVID Positivity Rates Drop In The Region, But Five More Deaths Reported

Two-week COVID-19 positivity rates in the region dropped over the holiday weekend, but coronavirus-related deaths rose by five. As of 6 a.m. Monday, Carroll County has reported two more deaths, now at 22, while Audubon Crawford and Sac went up by one each. Crawford now has 16 deaths, Audubon two and Sac eight. There are only two counties reporting at over 20 percent, Sac is at 11th in the state at 23.5 percent, 859 positives and 436 recovered, while Calhoun County drops to 28th at 21.6 percent with 1,061 positives, 369 recovered and seven deaths. In the rest of the region: Carroll is at 19 percent, 1,986 positives and 1,255 recovered; Audubon has the third lowest positivity rate in the state at 10.2 percent with 296 positives and 195 recovered; Crawford County is at 18.8 percent with 1,747 positives and 1,413 recovered: Greene has 18.5 percent with 526 positives, 214 recovered and no coronavirus-related deaths; and Guthrie is at 17.9 percent with 753 positives, 439 recovered and 15 deaths. Eight area long-term care facilities report outbreaks. In Carroll, St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s nursing facility has 30 reported cases with 13 recovered and Regency Park has 22 positives with 11 recovered. The Exira Care Center has 20 positive cases with 16 recovered. Two Denison facilities are reporting on the state website with Eventide Lutheran Home reporting 42 positives with 21 recovered and the Denison Care Center has 41 cases with 35 recovered. Regency Park of Jefferson has 16 cases with none considered recovered. And two Sac County facilities have outbreaks, both Twilight Acres of Wall Lake and Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View have 26 positives with none of those listed as recovered.
