Officials from the South Central Calhoun (SCC) Community School District announced today (Monday) two certified staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. In a message to parents, Superintendent, Brad Anderson, says administrators are working with Calhoun County Public Health to conduct contact tracing at the elementary and high schools to identify students and staff who may have been exposed to the positive cases. The district implemented a mask mandate for students and staff beginning Oct. 23, and as a result, public health officials are considering potential contacts with the assumption both parties were wearing face coverings at the time, which should significantly reduce the number of students required to quarantine. School officials are currently not aware of any positive cases among staff members at the middle school in Rockwell City. Parents or guardians with questions are encouraged to contact Anderson directly at 712-297-7341 or by email at banderson@scc.k12.ia.us.
