As the national average price of regular unleaded gasoline held steady over the past week, there was a slight drop in Iowa, but a rise in the cost of natural gas. According to AAA, as of Wednesday, the price of regular unleaded averaged $2.07, a drop of a penny from last week and $.35 lower than one year ago. The national average was $2.18. Iowa’s retail diesel prices were also stable with a statewide average of $2.18, which is $.67 lower than last year and $.20 less than the national average. Heating fuels all increased in price over the past week. Natural gas rose $.08 to $2.65 per MMbtu. Propane and home heating oil were both up by $.02, with propane priced at $1.08 per gallon and home heating oil ending the week at $1.72 per gallon.
