Semi Full Of Hogs Overturns Near Dedham Tuesday

A semi-tractor trailer loaded with fat hogs overturned near Dedham Tuesday morning. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at Olympic Avenue and 340th Street at approximately 11:06 a.m. Thirty-nine-year-old David Andrew Meyers of Kimballton was driving the 2003 Freightliner westbound on 340th and had stopped for the posted sign at the intersection. As Meyers was negotiating a right-hand turn, he cut the corner short, causing the passenger tires of the trailer to enter the northeast ditch and roll onto its side. This caused the trailer to come unhitched from the truck. There was an estimated $45,000 in damage to the semi-tractor trailer, owned by Handlos Farms of Audubon. Meyers was uninjured in the accident, but was cited for failure to maintain control There was no report of injuries to the hogs.
