A Jefferson man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly wielding a knife during a dispute. The Jefferson Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of South Walnut Street at approximately 8:59 p.m. on a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke to several parties involved in the incident. Following their initial investigation, authorities allege 40-year-old Christopher Herbert Lawrence of Jefferson had been holding a knife during the altercation. No injuries were reported. Lawrence was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County jail, where he was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
