Iowa Senator Grassley Shoots Back At Democrats On Scare Tactics And Supreme Court Packing

Earlier this (Tuesday) morning, Iowa Republican Senator, Chuck Grassley, appeared on the Fox Business Network to discuss the Supreme Court nomination hearing for Judge Amy Coney Barrett. Grassley says on the first full day of hearings, the Democrats have deployed scare tactics, telling Americans approval of this nominee would result in the loss of health insurance coverage.

Grassley also addressed the comments from former Vice-President, Joe Biden, and former Attorney General, Eric Holder, that Republicans are working to “pack the court” with this nomination.

There have been nine members on the Supreme Court for more than 150 years. Democratic Party members are also proposing the addition of two more states to the union to add to the number of liberal representatives. Grassley says this is a question of bipartisanship.

He says many of the things the Democrats want they can’t get through the legislative body. Instead, Grassley says they go to the courts, and according to him the liberal judges like to expand laws and to expand the Constitution beyond the intent of the writers. “They want four more justices to get around the six to three division of the court so they can legislate through the court.” The problem with that, Grassley says, is that you can’t vote judges out of office. If the people are unhappy with their legislative leaders, they can vote in someone else.
