The Storm Lake Police Department reports a man wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for arson was taken into custody on Friday. According to authorities, 39-year-old Thavone Navongsa of Storm Lake was arrested at approximately 4 p.m. in the 500 block of Geisinger Road. Navongsa is charged with third-degree arson, an aggravated misdemeanor, reckless use of fire, a serious misdemeanor, and two counts of trespassing, a simple misdemeanor. These charges stem from an investigation by law enforcement into multiple reported burglaries in late September and early October at a storage building on the eastern side of town. Authorities allege Navongsa had caused minor damage to the structure by starting small fires while inside the building. He was found in possession of a machete and drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest, resulting in additional charges. Navongsa remains in custody at the Buena Vista County jail on a $4,300 bond.
