DNR Forecasts Peak Fall Color Viewing For Our Area Starting Oct. 15

As leaves across the state begin their transition to more vibrant reds, yellows and oranges, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has released their latest projects for when each region will reach their peak viewing times. northeastern Iowa is expected to be their most vibrant starting next week, from Monday, Oct. 5 through Saturday, Oct. 10. Leaf colors started to change quickly last week in central Iowa but will not reach their height sometime between Oct. 10 and Oct. 17. The western side of the state is projected to peak from Oct. 15 to Oct. 22. Generally, colors change later the farther south you go.
