The Carroll Police Department responded to two property-damage accidents Friday. The first was reported at 5:55 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Clark Street. Fifty-four-year-old Janelle Bendixen of Ayrshire was eastbound on Highway 30 in a 2017 Hyundai and was approaching the flashing yellow light at the intersection with Clark Street. At the same time, 25-year-old Virginia Brower of Lanesboro was northbound on Clark in a 2010 Ford Taurus, approaching the intersection that had flashing red lights. Brower entered the intersection and struck the Bendixen vehicle, causing disabling damage. No injuries were reported and Brower was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. The second accident occurred at approximately 1:04 p.m. in the 900 block of W. U.S. Highway 30. Sixty-six-year-old Zachary Campbell of Carroll was making a left turn into the eastbound lane of Highway 30 from Boylan Avenue in a 2016 Volkswagen Beetle. A 2017 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer, driven by 30-year-old Samuel Wiles of Fort Dodge was entering Highway 30 from the Hy-Vee parking lot when he struck the Campbell vehicle. Again, no injuries were reported but Wiles was cited for failure to yield when entering a highway.
