Carroll Man Charged With Interference With Official Acts After Resisting Arrest Monday Night

A Carroll man was taken into custody on two charges Monday night after resisting arrest for public intoxication. According to Carroll County District Court records, an officer with the Carroll Police Department was traveling through Graham Park at approximately 7:12 p.m. when they encountered 34-year-old Jose Eduardo Alvarez-Galdamez sitting at a picnic table. Law enforcement approached Alvarez-Galdamez to discuss an unrelated issue when they noticed his breath smelled of alcohol and he was showing signs of intoxication. Additionally, officers located a half-empty beer can nearby. As they were taking him into custody for public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor, authorities says he became noncompliant and actively resisted arrest, resulting in another charge of interference with official acts, also a simple misdemeanor. Alvarez-Galdamez pled guilty to both charges Tuesday and was ordered to pay more than $315 in fines, surcharges and court costs.
